Hi, I’m Tara.

I'm a ceramic artist based in Pacifica, California. Through clay, I tell stories — feminine, wild, and enchanted, rooted in the natural world.

I began working with clay in 2018 during a season of personal healing. What started as a grounding practice became something much deeper. Clay became a mirror, a language I didn't have in words, a way of understanding myself that nothing else had offered. It has been my greatest teacher. Through it, I've learned patience, surrender, and how to stay present with what is forming, both in the studio and in my life.

I was born and raised in the mountains of Colorado, spent many years in the desert of Arizona, and now live a short walk from the Pacific Ocean. Mountains, desert, and sea all live in my work. The colors, textures, and quiet power of those landscapes continue to shape the forms I make.

When I'm not in the studio, I'm usually outside. Nature is my happy place. I love hiking, mountain biking, walking near the water, and wandering through the redwoods. I'm married to my high school sweetheart, and my daughter is my favorite person in the world. I love deep conversation, good music, books that linger, game nights with friends, and any excuse to be near a dog. I can also say the alphabet backwards in under 10 seconds, which has nothing to do with clay but feels important to mention.

My studio and my heart are rooted in Pacifica, CA — the unceded ancestral homeland of the Ramaytush Ohlone people, the original stewards of this coastal land. I am grateful to make my work here, and I honor their enduring presence and sovereignty. To learn more or offer support, visit ramaytush.org.
